As someone sitting on 1.7.10... agree. If the community took 1.7.3 and ran with it, I think it would be the best outcome for minecraft. 1.7.10 has some of the best mods ever created (future versions all feel like crappy bootlegs) but it also added a lot of stupid BS, and I'm not talking the stuff everyone complains about, but little things like creepers exploding at the edge of the range where before they used to get as close as possible before detonating, zombies sometimes spawning zombies on top of you when you hit them, witches just spawning as normal enemies for *no reason,* the massive amount of lag from all the memory leaks and sometimes chunks outright not loading, and taking damage (regardless of the amount) draining your hunger by 1 point per hit on top of regenerating hearts costing hunger as well. If you went through the effort of fixing each and every one of these little pain points (all of which still have yet to be properly addressed in the modern versions) you would have basically rewrote the entire game. 1.7.3 lacks a lot of the good in 1.7.10 but it also completely lacks all of the bad introduced in later updates.

I'm honored two of my suggestions commented on the last video were used as the top 2 in this one! Just now got around to watching this. I so miss the days of Minecraft that I experienced as a child. Minecraft felt more like a world to get lost in, whereas now in modern Minecraft there's goals and progression that can tend to make the game feel more like a chore than an immersive experience. Thanks for the nostalgia!

I always loved the tower of pimps because it gave me a reason to collect gold also another menu splash text on the Xbox (maybe on other platforms idk) was something like “this can only be read on 720p or higher” and yeah the text was so small that you could only read it on higher resolutions

There is one where if you use the xray glitch in the corner of the world there will be all of the flowers and mushrooms in one space under the bedrock

There's something like crystal wing in a mod called Cylic. The mod also adds a bunch of quality of life mods the kind of resemble what was shown in this mod showcase. I think you should check it out some time, you might even find more things that resemble other forgotten mods and concepts player wanted like emerald tools and more uses for amethyst.

hey, ive been playing modern beta but im confused on how to get modern caves to generate along with the beta terrain. i've gone to the links provided in curseforge, tried to figure out the coding, but im still stumped. If I can get any kind of assistance on this it would be very much appreciated. How can i get the caves to generate their 1.18 versions?

Is it possible to have new caves with the old overworld generation?

I still use dokucraft on Java. Spahx on bedrock. Doku is still my absolute favorite. I remember my older brother installing it in beta. It just reminds me of the simple times.

i dont see whats so wrong with the older texture packs though. the newer ones are just atrocious and difficult to look at. also wtf none of these were in the game. must be new 🙄

i use to play a lot of the mythology and realism texture packs, and i love how each game related one included their own world with structures resembling the games that the textures are from. but the mythology texture pack had a coastal city with a +80 block tall monument

I sorta agree if single player is your thing, but modern minecraft is far more enjoyable for servers

For anyone who doesn't know, QMagnet also made an EXCEEDINGLY useful map for resource pack artists, the "Texture Pack Test Map" which was a nice facility where you could see literally EVERYTHING in the game. It's just nice if you want to quickly take a look at this new resource pack you downloaded, or you're making one yourself It isn't just a bunch of blocks clumped together, is legitimately built like a museum of sorts for everything in Minecraft, down to mobs, particles, armors, and even sound effects. It's nice when you don't have to try to remember if you textured that block or not and look it up in the creative menu, you just see it sticking out like a sore thumb Of course, the debug map that you can find in modern versions of the game at least has the blocks covered, but not mobs or particles ;)

A big problem is that the typical "normie" will never go out of their way to look things up, if anything they will just watch whatever the algorithm serves them. They are in the end the main cause of these trends, them and google. It's not just with Minecraft, it's like this with everything. Anything that requires a bit of searching to find is too much for the average normie, so it never really becomes "popular" even if it's good. This is why when you look at many things that get popular, you notice that they share allot of similarities with baby food (bland, boring and tasteless). That's cause the average normie can't really handle much outside of that, so that's what becomes popular.

Most of it is just nostalgia but I will agree that the seeds in the newer versions need a revamp. The game features more complex survival mechanics now and yet most of it's survival appeal has been lost due to the fact that structures are almost always within walking distance from spawn. Gone are the days when you had to live in a hole in the ground for the first few days of the game until you managed to gather enough resources to be able to fend off the night terrors, nowadays you just need to walk to the nearby village (assuming the game hasn't spawned you in one) to get loaded up on mid-game gear.

This is super nostalgic. I used BDCraft because of Markiplier's absolute classic Minecraft let's plays from so long ago. I used it for a long time actually, along with Faithful. I'm surprised that Markiplier wasn't mentioned but he wasn't just doing Minecraft at the time to be fair. And the OCD one... wow. I used that for a long time. I totally forgot about it.

As a fan of 'the lewd'™, even I can't look at the sexualized minecraft monster school stuff and think "Aw, hell yeah, that's nice!!!". Rather, I look at it and say "This has to be the most intolerable thing I've eve- wait, WHY ARE THEY GIVING BIRTH!!??" It's one of the strangest thing to ever encoutner on UA-cam (IMO), because who the hell's supposed to find it hot?? Children? I'd hope the fuck not! And all of this from some wholesome 13 episode series, no less. -_-

There was a texture pack called "Misa" I believe that I used and the back then german UA-camr HoneyballLP made her own texture pack. But she hasn't updated it nor has she been doing Minecraft content

Achievement Hunter and Rooster Teeth as a whole really shaped my humor and gave me endless hours of content. I hope they're all doing well now after moving onto other things. These are all so nostalgic.

I started playing on mobile in 2013 and PC in 2015 on 1.18.8, just before 1.9 was added. I vividly remember the Nether Reactor and the Super Secret Settings, the latter of which was sooo cool! I guess we have shaders for it now though.

My most nostalgic thing with beta, and alpha for what it matters? Writing plugins for hMod, much easier to use and much faster to develop for than for Bukkit back then. No need to be a Java crack, if you know how to code you can whip something up in minutes, throw the jar file into the plugin directory and issue a /reload. No need to reload the whole damn server, mind you. Need a new command? Just hook into the chat function and check for a / and then your command, no need to register anything. Still need permissions? Add the command to the permission file, assign a group, add a check in your command routine and /reload. Its what made Exec* possible back then. And made it possible for me to write Minecraft plugins in Perl. 😁 Speaking of permissions and ranks. It was just a simple CSV file, easy to understand, easy to maintain. Even from a bunch of bash scripts if you are crazy enough. It was a dream to work with, sadly everyone went with Bukkit and hMod/Canary died out. *: minecraftonline.com/wiki/Exec

One of my favourites growing up was "Custom NPCs". Making entire armies with different factions took up a lot of my time as a kid. "Gulliver's Travels" was also another one I messed around with. I also really loved "Modular Powersuits" which I never hear anyone talk about but apparently it's updated to 1.20 and has over 12 million downloads so I'm not sure what's up with that. There's also "Mutant Mobs" which isn't exactly niche but is still mostly stuck in the past. "Adventure Craft" was also a lot of fun back in the day, especially as a big Zelda fan
